Rev Kevin Vicker - Chair

In addition to being the chair of the board of Trustee's of The Matthew Tree Project Kevin is also Pastor of Owen Street Mission in St George and manages the Great George Street Mission building for the Bristol City Mission Society. Before becoming a minister Kevin was a bank manager and is a qualified bookkeeper. Kevin is married with two children and has a real passion for those in need.

Sue Baic MSc RD RNutr
Registered Dietitian and Nutritionist

Sue Baic is a Registered Dietitian and Nutritionist and a member of the British Dietetic Association and the Nutrition Society. Sue has a special interest promoting healthy lifestyles for  the prevention and management under nutrition and health problems such as heart disease. 

Sue has 25 years experience in the NHS and 10 years as a lecturer in Nutrition at the University of Bristol. Sue has worked as part of Food Inside Out offering nutrition and cookery courses to clients of the The Matthew Tree Project and is the author of the book 'Nutrition for Dummies.'

Nigel Goodway

Nigel a retired company owner and engineer is a Trustee of The Matthew Tree Project. Born in 1939 and married to his beloved wife, Sylvia for over 50 years, Nigel has been an active member of Elim Pentecostal Church, Keynsham for over 32 years and before that was a member of Elim Church in Stokes Croft. Nigel and Sylvia were both born in Bristol and during their married life have lived in the Bedminster, Brislington, Long Ashton and Kingwood areas of the city. They are both dedicated Christians since their teenage years and are blessed with three children and ten grandchildren.

Karen Apperley
Karen is a highly skilled and qualified counsellor bringing considerable knowledge and expertise to the trustee board of The Matthew Tree Project. Karen is married to Ian and has volunteered within the Food Plus Centre at St Jude's as a client interviewer, helping to shape and develop the model of The Matthew Tree Project services.

Charity Secretary

An experienced senior professional comfortable dealing with charity commission, companies house, HMRC, policies, insurances, DBS checks and procedures. 
This is a vital role within the charity as it will ensure TMTP is fully complaint at all times with the law and charity commission guidelines, to the highest possible standards.


Currently practicing or retired legal professional preferably with housing, employment, immigration, welfare knowledge and/or experience. 
This role will enable TMTP to put into place the level of legal support and assistance our clients require to navigate their way out of poverty and into a better and sustainable future.

Mark Goodway

Mark; born in Brislington, Bristol in 1965; founded The Matthew Tree Project in July 2010. Previously to his time with the charity, Mark was the CEO of his own media company which traded internationally. Mark is a member of Bristol's Fairness Commission Panel and has an advisory role to the Public Inquiry into Food Poverty and Hunger (all party parliamentary group co-chaired by Frank Field MP and the Bishop of Truro). Mark also represents The Matthew Tree Project as a member of Bristol's Joint Planning Board for Welfare Reform and Advice Provision. Mark has three sons, Ben (28), Luke (27) & Samuel (24) and was appointed as CEO on 1st January 2012.
